First, I would like to say a huge thank you to Candice for sending me a signed paperback of her debut memoir: FACING FEAR FINDING HOPE: Inspirational Vignettes of Courage and Resilience. This is a short memoir of about 80 pages and deals with some important lessons that Candice learned through periods of trial and grief in her life. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up this book, but I went in with an open mind and I’m glad I did. I really enjoyed reading about Candice’s life and her resilience through some really scary life events like cancer, the death of a parent, and coming to terms with being an alcoholic. I found this book touching and inspirational and I really believe that it found me at just the right time in my life. It gave me a real sense of peace and I found it uplifting. I think both of those feelings are things we all need a little more of right now. It was refreshing to read a memoir that raised me up rather than making me feel down, even though it deals with heavy topics.

Description of Facing Fear Finding Hope
This book also marks #50 in my Summer Reading Challenge. If you don’t know, I set a goal to read 100 books with my family this summer. Obviously, I didn’t read this one out loud to my toddlers but every book we read, either together or alone, counts toward our goal.
