If you are signed up for my newsletter (which you totally should be – click here to get on that) then you know that I’ve been working on getting my Kindle Vella series launched as an eBook and paperback. I’m doing this with The Disappearance of Susannah Dane because it is complete at 31 episodes (chapters). I will eventually release The Absence of Aurelia Perez this way, as well, but Amazon requires that the last episode published is available to readers exclusively on Kindle Vella before launching it anywhere else.
In the picture above is the first proof of the paperback! Very exciting. I am going to be shrinking it down a little bit in size since the 6×9 size just didn’t feel right to me (my husband thinks I’m nuts, but objectively, if you look at other YA novels, they are typically not 6×9.) If you order a paperback copy in a few weeks (when it launches) the size will be different than you see above. It also won’t have a stripe across the top that says not for resale. I also accidentally ordered this book in white paper and I really prefer cream for fiction, so I’ll be changing that as well.
You might notice that the book is featured with my Ecola Bay mug and sweater!! So cozy. This particular sweater has been discontinued (due to the relevance of 2021) but you can find all the current merch on my shop.
While I wait for my updated proof to show up in my mail box, I am busy editing Leslie Kim #4: The Bayou. It is taking me a while to go through the chapters because my life is pretty busy with client work, but it is so fun to revisit this story. I finished the first draft last year, so I get to discover little moments throughout the book that I forgot about. It’s great. I’ll update again when I’m ready to do the cover reveal for The Bayou and when The Disappearance of Susannah Dane goes live on KU and in paperback!
