I have made some deviations from the typically word count goals for Nanowrimo. Instead of 7 days a week, this daily planner gives you 5. I added in the word count goals to that you should hit to get to 50,000 words in 20 days.

Why 2,500 words a day instead of 1,600(ish)?

Personally, I feel like I start to hit my groove in one writing session around 1,500 words. If I stop right after that, I usually have quite a bit more that I feel I could say but I’ve hit my goal, so I stop! This actually slows me down a lot. So, I like to try for 2,500 words a day when I’m working on a new draft.

The nice thing about planning in two days a week on break is that if you have a hard day where you only get in 500 words, you can make those up on the weekend. Maybe you can even find some writing sprints on Youtube or other distance-writing events. Could you do 10,000 words in one day (in multiple sessions?)

Printable but we don’t have a printer…

I left the document in a .doc format so that you can download it without it being in a pdf and you can edit it as you see fit. That means if you want to write how many words you write each day in that column, then go ahead! Or maybe you want to write a note to yourself about the names of characters that you’ve thrown in to your story. Whatever it is, you have the freedom to edit.

Good luck on your Nanowrimo 2020 Journey!
