The author that I am interviewing today is the lovely Elizabeth Eckstein. I met Elizabeth on Twitter and later we joined forces in our SciFi Collaborative, a Scifi/Fantasy writing group. I’ve had a ton of fun getting to know her in this interview, so I’m sure you will too!

Please note that because our names are so close, I am using ES for me (Eliza) and I am asking the questions.

ES: Thank you for joining me on my blog, Elizabeth! I’m excited to talk to you today about Quicksilver and Brimstone.

Elizabeth: Thank you so much for having me!

ES: When did you know that you wanted to be a writer?

Elizabeth: I suppose I wanted to write stories even as a child, but at that time I didn’t think to become a writer one day. I was 20 when I first decided to sit down and write a book. It took several attempts before I finally hit on a concept I could stick to. That became Quicksilver & Brimstone.

ES: How long did it take you to write your book?

Elizabeth: It took a very very long time. From the time I started to publication was more than 10 years. But in the beginning I wrote on and off. It would lay abandoned for half a year, then I would pick it up again. There were lots of rewrites. I really didn’t know much about writing or how to go about it. I just wanted to create this story and this world. I learned a lot along the way. Writing is a lot quicker and easier now!

ES: Are you planning to write more in the series?

Elizabeth: Yes. I plan to have 6 books in the series.

ES: As you know, I absolutely love your website. I can just imagine what it would have been like to stumble upon that when I was a kid! I know I would’ve loved it. How did you come up with the idea?

Elizabeth: I sort of just imagined it as a fun way to explore the world. I wanted to add a visual element. Eventually I ended up doing illustrations for the book as well.

ES: Did you work with an artist or an app programmer? I could totally see it becoming an app. How did you build the website?

Elizabeth: I did everything myself. Wix has quite a good website builder which I used. All drag and drop. No knowledge of coding or website building required. I would love it to be an app, but that, I’m afraid is beyond my skill set.

ES: Where can people find your book?

Elizabeth: My book is available on Amazon mybook.to/Crimsonlion1
