Bringing The Paige Parker Mysteries to Life with an AI Image Generator

by | Oct 22, 2023 | Author Life, Book Blog, Zeze | 0 comments

I recently shared about bringing The Leslie Kim Serials to life using Canva’s AI Image Generator. I also wanted to try to use the program to capture the Paige Parker Mystery series. I simply typed up the description of each character and then the generator created 3 or 4 images that fit that description. Then I selected my favorite ones. These versions, which are sort of animated realism or digital paintings, are my favorites. Canva’s AI is kind of hit-and-miss for faces, so the ones that I asked for with “realistic photographs” had varying results.

The image below is a collage I made with some of my favorite images. I would totally read a comic or watch an animated show with these characters!

Paige Parker

Paige is the main character in these books. She’s 17 in the first book, and while these images look a bit younger, I really loved how these turned out! The realistic photograph (image 4) is so realistic that it’s kind of trippy to realize that it’s not a photograph of a real person.

Paige, a 17-year-old high school student living in a small coastal town, is your typical teenager with an unassuming and down-to-earth demeanor. Yet, beneath her ordinary appearance, Paige harbors a profound curiosity and a resilient spirit, both of which are about to be ignited.

The tranquility of her life is shattered on the first day of her senior year when her best friend, Susannah Dane, is tragically missing. Paige’s world is turned upside down, and she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and determination as she becomes an unexpected beacon of hope for her tight-knit community. She is determined to seek justice for Susannah and find the answers to the countless questions surrounding her friend’s untimely death.

Paige’s transformation from an average teen to a relentless investigator is marked by her unwavering loyalty to Susannah’s memory. She finds herself thrust into a world of mysteries, secrets, and unexpected danger. In her quest for the truth, she forms an unlikely alliance with Susannah’s boyfriend, Owen, and their mutual friend, Sierra. Together, they uncover the darker corners of their seemingly idyllic coastal town.

Paige’s journey from an average teenager to an unrelenting seeker of truth showcases the power of friendship, resilience, and determination when faced with the darkest of mysteries. With her unwavering commitment to finding justice for her best friend, Paige evolves into a character who inspires hope, courage, and the unwavering pursuit of the truth.

Read The Disappearance of Susannah Dane on Kindle Vella, as a paperback, or as an eBook.

Susannah Dane

Susannah Dane, a 17-year-old “it” girl, is the embodiment of what many girls aspire to be. She effortlessly commands attention and admiration in her coastal town with her striking beauty, charisma, and enigmatic charm that captivates those around her. With her golden locks, sparkling blue eyes, and radiant smile, she seems to have been born to be in the spotlight.

A natural leader, Susannah is at the top of the high school hierarchy. As a popular cheerleader, she graces the football field with her grace and agility. Zeze, as her friends call her, maintains an impressive academic record that showcases her intelligence and dedication. Her ability to balance popularity, academic excellence, and a thriving social life is a testament to her extraordinary multitasking skills.

Susannah’s heart belongs to Owen, a skater kid with a rebel spirit, who seeks refuge from the suffocating expectations of his successful lawyer father. Their relationship is a source of inspiration to others, transcending societal stereotypes, proving that love knows no boundaries. Together, they challenge expectations and norms, embodying the power of young love.

Yet, her most profound bond is with her best friend, Paige Parker. The two are inseparable, sharing secrets, dreams, and countless adventures. They epitomize the essence of true friendship, supporting each other through the ups and downs of teenage life.

When Susannah suddenly goes missing, it sends shockwaves through the entire town. The disappearance of the beloved “it” girl ignites a collective urgency to find her. The entire community rallies together in a frantic search for answers, underscoring the profound impact Susannah had on the lives of those around her.

As the town is consumed by uncertainty and fear, the mystery surrounding Susannah’s disappearance unravels, revealing a complex and enigmatic young woman who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her story becomes a powerful reminder of the fleeting nature of youth, the importance of love, and the enduring bonds of friendship.

Sierra

Sierra, a 17-year-old cheerleader, is a magnetic yet enigmatic presence in the high school hallways. Her appearance is striking, with cascading blonde hair, she’s an effortless size 0, and a confident, almost regal, posture. She’s the girl who seems to have it all: beauty, popularity, and a mesmerizing charm that draws people toward her.

Initially known as the high school mean girl, Sierra exudes an air of self-assuredness that some might interpret as arrogance. She is notorious for her ability to captivate the hearts of any boy she chooses, often adding to the misconception that she is shallow and heartless. Her reputation for being ruthless and a bit of a bully has cemented her status as a formidable figure in the social hierarchy.

Despite her facade of aloofness, Sierra hides a complex and genuine spirit beneath the surface. Deep down, she carries an emotional depth that few have had the opportunity to see. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and possesses a strong sense of morality, which she keeps concealed behind a carefully crafted exterior.

One of Sierra’s closest friendships is with Susannah. She’s only ever second-best to Susannah, who would appear to be a natural rival to Sierra, instead, they are fast friends. Behind closed doors, their bond is characterized by laughter, shared secrets, and unbreakable trust. When Susannah mysteriously goes missing, Sierra’s world is rocked, and she quickly recognizes the need to set aside her past differences with Paige to help find her dear friend.

Sierra’s transformation throughout the series is marked by her willingness to look beyond stereotypes and preconceived notions, forming an unlikely alliance with Paige, Susannah’s best friend. In the face of adversity and uncertainty, she surprises those around her with her dedication to uncover the truth and her unwavering commitment to Susannah.

As the series progresses, Sierra’s character becomes a symbol of the complexities of human nature and the idea that first impressions can often be deceiving. Her evolution from the high school mean girl to a genuine and empathetic young woman underscores the power of friendship and the shared pursuit of a common goal.

I like this concept a lot for Sierra with her boyfriend, Chase Miller. Although, there’s something kind of strange about her face in this image that I can’t quite place (maybe it’s the nose?)

Owen Mathers

Owen, a 17-year-old skateboarder, exudes an air of rebellion and nonconformity that sets him apart from the typical high school crowd. With his unkempt, shaggy hair and perpetually scruffy look, he carries the aura of an outsider who is always just one step away from trouble.

Owen’s daily routine largely revolves around skating through the streets of his coastal town, often accompanied by his steadfast friend, Miguel. He has a reputation for pushing boundaries and challenging authority figures, often getting into mild scrapes with the law. Yet, he knows that he has the safety net of his well-off lawyer father, Ken Mathers, who is always ready to bail him out of trouble.

When we first meet Owen, he’s caught in the whirlwind of his teenage years and is desperate to escape the overwhelming expectations placed on him by his parents. The weight of their hopes for his future is suffocating, and he yearns for a sense of freedom and individuality.

The one person who provides Owen with a refuge from his troubles and a sense of authenticity is Susannah, his beloved girlfriend. In their relationship, they share secrets and moments of genuine connection, forming an intimate bond in which they can truly be themselves.

When Susannah goes missing, Owen is thrown into a state of confusion and despair. He’s left adrift, uncertain of how to navigate the situation. In his time of need, he turns to Paige, his girlfriend’s best friend, for support. Their connection, though not romantic in nature, deepens as they work together to uncover the circumstances surrounding Susannah’s disappearance.

Owen’s journey is marked by his struggle to find his own identity and his yearning for freedom from his family’s expectations. While he and Paige don’t share romantic feelings for each other, they develop a profound friendship that grows out of their shared quest for truth and justice, becoming pillars of support for one another in the face of a devastating mystery.

Deputy Wills Miller

Deputy Wills Miller is a young, determined Sheriff’s deputy in the small coastal town where Susannah Dane goes missing. This case marks his first real foray into serious police work, beyond the usual routine of handling traffic stops and minor incidents. He’s anxious to make a good impression on the Sheriff and prove himself as a capable and reliable law enforcement officer.

Wills has a clean-cut appearance, with short, sandy-brown hair, sharp brown eyes, and a no-nonsense demeanor that suggests both professionalism and determination. He’s diligent, methodical, and willing to learn, driven by a desire to uphold the law and serve his community.

As the investigation into Susannah’s disappearance unfolds, Wills discovers that Paige, a fellow high school student, has been independently working on the mystery in her own way. Recognizing her deep connection to the case as Susannah’s best friend, Wills quickly allies himself with Paige. He understands the urgency and anxiety she must be feeling and recognizes that her involvement could be pivotal in solving the mystery.

Wills’s role in the case is characterized by his willingness to share information and collaborate with Paige, forming a unique partnership that bridges the gap between law enforcement and the local community. He becomes a confidant for Paige, offering guidance and support as they navigate the complexities of the investigation.

In addition to his duties as a deputy, Wills is also the older brother of Chase Miller, the high school’s football star. He’s often called upon to handle situations when social outings or events in town take a violent turn. This dual role, as both a law enforcement officer and the brother of a local celebrity, presents its own set of challenges and responsibilities.

As Wills delves deeper into the secrets of the small town, he faces unexpected twists and turns that lead his first case down a path he could never have anticipated. The investigation, which started as a hopeful search for a missing girl, ultimately turns into a tragic and transformative experience for the young deputy, shaping his career and life in profound ways.

Wills is a recurring character in The Disappearance of Susannah Dane and The Absence of Aurelia Perez. The sequel is also available on Kindle Vella, as a paperback, and an eBook.

Look Out for Book 3: The Boy We All Forgot

I’m going to start writing and releasing the third book in this series on Kindle Vella during NaNoWriMo. So feel free to follow along and read about some familiar faces! I will post on the blog as soon as the first episode (chapter) is released.
