The Shattered Gate by Eric R. Swanson [Book Boost!]

When I decided to start my 30 Days of Blogging for April, I wanted to include at least one Book Boost a week. This is basically a post which highlights a book (or an author) that I have been really impressed with and want to share. It’s also an easy (and free) way for me to help promote other authors. Today is the last day of my 30 days of blogging challenge and I’m sharing a lovely book by Eric R. Swanson. His book, The Shattered Gate, has glowing reviews (and so do the other two books in The Traceverse Saga.)

Eric R. Swanson is actually part of The Sci-Fi Fantasy Collaborative! This is a small community of authors, started by me and a few other author friends, to help Science Fiction and Fantasy authors find resources, share their struggles and successes, and promote each other’s books. We have a Discord group and it’s actually open to any and all Science Fiction or Fantasy authors. Reach out to me if you’d like more information!

They selfishly pillaged Earth and made him a hybrid. Will his split nature spell the end of intergalactic abduction?

Half-human, half-Ceran, Micah Trace yearns for something more. Though the repetition and isolation of living as a body double for the King of Ceres is crushing, he’s grateful to be treated better than the other genetically engineered humans. But when he discovers the ailing plight of his ancestors, he heeds the calling and cleverly insinuates himself into a dangerous mission across the galaxy.

Fearing their plan to repair a failing transportation gate might lead to disaster, Micah uses his experience mimicking the king to steal the forbidden authority he’s assumed for so long. But with ulterior motives darkening the depths of space, he may not survive to see the centuries-old connection between the planets repaired.

Can the royal mimic win control of the ship before they’re lost to the vacuum’s void?

The Shattered Gate is the thought-provoking first tale in the science fiction Traceverse Saga. If you like character-driven action, high-tech military defense systems, and intriguing political powerplays, then you’ll love Eric R. Swanson’s interstellar adventure.

Buy The Shattered Gate to blast through the cosmos today!

Could you answer a calling to return to an ancestral home, a home you’ve never seen… A home filled with people who will likely reject, fear and hate you?
Four centuries have passed, and the Shattered Gate remains in orbit around Earth. It reminds the people of Earth that they are not alone in the universe and that they are hopelessly outmatched by alien technology.
The product of the most horrific global experience in human history, Micah Trace was trained to Mimic the movements, mannerisms and speech of an alien world’s king. He was born for this role and genetically engineered to resemble the king of Ceres in every way. Though he shares the most famous face on Ceres, the truth of his role as Mimic to the monarch is a closely guarded secret. The day Micah is awakened to the plight of an isolated, fearful and sickened human race is the day Micah is faced with the greatest questions of his life: Can he use his lifetime of training to lead rather than simply act the part of a leader? Can he lead both worlds that made him (Earth and Ceres) to a brighter, united future?

Book Description for The Shattered Gate from Amazon

Praise for “The Shattered Gate”

From the exciting beginning, the author carries us on a journey that captures the imagination. Don’t let your mind wander even for a moment because so much is happening through the many characters of this first book in the Traceverse series! Can’t wait for book 2! I would recommend this to anyone who has ever even thought about life on other planets and who enjoys a good futuristic read!

Micah Trace and the Shattered Gate is a story that grabs your attention and holds it from the very first moment – an alien invasion. The story reminds me heavily of Robert Heinlein novels with a healthy dose of social commentary thrown into a futuristic setting, and I say that as someone who sees Heinlein as one of their favorite authors.

Just finished Micah Trace and the Shattered Gate, and am anxiously awaiting Book #2! The premise is really original, the characters are interesting and well-developed, and the storyline grabs you from the first chapter! Eric Swanson has written a great beginning to his series.
